Itinerary

Day 1Overnight stay in Dambulla Meal plan – Half Board basis

Ayubowan (meaning – may you live long) is our traditional greeting and we welcome you with the same warm gesture to our beautiful island of paradise! Clearing all airport formalities and heading to the arrival lobby our representative from Jetwing Travels will warmly greet you and escort to the vehicle.

Transfer to Pinnawala to visit the Elephant Orphanage. A valuable organization commenced in the 1970’s has been since caring for the orphaned elephants in the country. This is your first encounter with the gentle giants so be ready to capture the moments which will be an unforgettable experience in your lives.

A sight to see will be the elephants lining up and walking across the street to the nearby river for their scheduled bath. And here you will see them having fun and playing in the water being carefree.

Then continue towards the famously know ‘cultural triangle’ of the island and arrive at your hotel. Considering your long journey we have allocated for you to rest and relax on the first day in order to adjust to the new surroundings, and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.

In the evening we would like to offer you a welcome cocktail to sit back and enjoy yourself with the first local taste!

Day 2Overnight stay in Dambulla Meal plan – Half Board basis

Wake up to a beautiful morning and have the breakfast at the hotel. Then prepare yourselves for a never before made experience to climb the majestic Sigiriya rock fortress!

A resulted kingdom of a family feud in the ancient times which made Sigiriya the fortress in the skies. You can marvel each step you take from the entrance itself to the wonders this site beholds! On a lucky day you can still witness the water fountain system functioning in the water garden.

Passing the boulder garden do not miss to climb and witness the beautiful frescoes which are protected to this date.

After do not forget to make a photo stop near the lion paw, which will give you a glimpse of the wonders that are above.

At top you will have a 360 degree view of the area where you can witness the lush greenery, the lakes which adds up to the scenery. Also viewing the historical ruins on the peak make sure to take a break and relax at the peak to imagine yourself as the ruler and feel like royalty!

Stepping down to reality head back to the ground level and we will now take you to visit the second capital of the island ‘Polonnaruwa’! Known as a golden era in the island you will learn the history and importance it holds which gives lessons for life even today.

The well preserved ruins will make you wonder the strength of the architects and the constructors back in the day, and the attention to detail of the craftsmanship will depict the massive talent which they held!

As you rise up and drive along the lake bund, your eyes open up to an enormous lake which was built to this magnitude during the reign of an ancient king. Let’s make a short stop under a shady tree, and enjoy a local refreshment with the cool breeze blowing from the lake as you discuss about this creation with the guide.

A long and exciting day, bring it to a close by heading back to the hotel and prepare for the overnight.

Day 3Overnight stay in Kandy Meal plan – Half Board basis

Time for a change of setting. Enjoy the breakfast laid out for you at the hotel, and after filling up make your way to the central part of the country.

En-route make a visit to the Dambulla cave temple, a temple built in appreciation by an ancient king for providing shelter during his period of exile, you can see no expense was spared in its appreciation.  Head in to the many revered caves where you will enter into a phase of tranquility and see the insight of a not so often found ‘cave temple’

Next make a short stop at a spice garden, Sri Lanka was historically attractive to the Western nations for its spice riches. And Sri Lanka is famous for a range of sought-after spices including cinnamon, pepper, cloves, cardamoms, nutmeg, mace and vanilla.

Learn more about these produce and only if interested you have the opportunity to purchase them as required.

The first day in Kandy is set to be at leisure to enjoy this different setting. And exploring of this area awaits for you tomorrow.

Day 4Overnight stay in Kandy Meal plan – Half Board basis

Leisurely wake up, enjoy a delicious breakfast and fill up because you are going to head out to explore the hill capital today!

The city of Kandy holds much importance for all Sri Lankans as this is the venue of the annual perahera, is where the most precious and revered tooth relic of Lord Buddha is located, and was the last stronghold of the Sri Lankan Kings before finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today.

Head on an interesting city tour navigating together with your guide through the hustle and bustle of the busy Kandy streets, and refresh from the cool breeze that blows through the Kandy lake. You will also visit the Temple of the Tooth whereas mentioned before the most prized possession is protected.

And then head to a relaxing pace by visiting the Peradeniya Royal botanical gardens, a venue existing from the times of Royalty now offering a broad experience of the flora in and out of the island. Stroll down the many paths along the gardens and remember to make some memories in the picturesque locations.

Let’s end the day on a high note visiting a cultural show of Sri Lanka! Depicting the traditional dances deriving from the different parts of the island also await to witness the mesmerizing fire breathers!

Day 5Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya Meal plan – Half Board basis

Rise and shine! The breakfast is laid out for you, enjoy and then we make the fun and long journey to the misty mountains.

To offer you the best experience we wish to take you by the train on this journey. Though slower it is a highly scenic ride where the train climbs around the mountains, creeps through the dark tunnels and travels along the lush green carpets of the tea plantations. So make sure your camera is ready to click on the beautiful scenery you pass by.

However we want you to understand that there are only a limited number of seats available for reservations, and requires manual booking procedures currently. Therefore we offer this train ride only on availability and in the unfortunate event a seat cannot be reserved (we will always do our utmost) we will take you by vehicle on road ensuring you have a pleasant ride as well.

Still if you wish to travel in the train without confirmed seats along with the local crowd we can provide the same for you even for a shorter duration journey to have the rail experience.

Ceylon Tea, a produce introduced to Sri Lanka by the British is now a refreshing drink enjoyed by every local ranging from a laborer to a millionaire! You will also have the opportunity to visit a tea plantation and a factory to enjoy your time and also learn about its production process.

Arriving in Nuwara Eliya check-in to the hotel. And after let’s head out to explore this colonial town.

Known as ‘Little England’ the town lives up to its nickname offering a picture of a British suburb village. You will see the little cottages on the hills, colonial hotels and the racecourse etc. which have been erected during the British rule which stands proud to this day.

As the evening gets cold head back to the hotel and enjoy the warmth of the hotel.

Day 06Overnight stay in Tissamaharama Meal plan – Half Board basis

Once again a change of setting! Now we take you to the wilderness of the island. Therefore after a filling breakfast head to Tissamaharama / Yala and prepare yourself to meet the animal kingdom of the island!

En-route do not forget to stop in Ella, a scenic town in the hills and capture some wonderful memories. On a clear and beautiful day you will be able to see the far corners of the island from the famously know ‘Ella Gap’.

Thereafter also make a short stop at the Ravana Waterfall, which hides the tales of historical legend ‘The Ramayana’ behind its curtain of water.

Later in the afternoon head in to the Yala national park for the game drive, your experience in the wilderness.

The park boast of a good ratio on viewing some of the main animals, and mainly of three species of the ‘Big Five’ of Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Elephant, the Sri Lankan Leopard and the Sloth Bear.

However we want you to understand this is a national park where wildlife freely roam so no viewing of animals is guaranteed.

But as you know fortune favors the bold!

After head back to the hotel and spend some time at leisure after the long journey and the exciting game drive made.

Day 07

Sadly, we are at the final day of the tour! Enjoy the breakfast laid for you before we cruise through the south coast and drop you off at the end.

But wait there is still more to see!

Witness the uncommon practice of fishing on a stick! This is no ordinary fishing technique, there might be several methods of catching a fish but this one is mind-boggling. Fishermen in Sri Lanka use stilts to catch a fish. Stilt Fishing is an old tradition practiced by fishing families in southwestern-most Sri Lanka.

And then head in to the Galle Dutch fort, a world heritage site. Marvel in the massive stone fort which the history roots run deep to the period of the sixteenth century AD and then has come to its present structure by the developments made by the Portuguese, Dutch and the British. You can head up to the rampart and walk along gazing at the clear blue Indian Ocean, and this is an ideal photo location as well! And your guide will enlighten you on the interesting details as you walk along the narrow streets of the fort.

Last but not least you will visit a turtle hatchery! This wonderful marine species have found ideal conditions for laying eggs in certain areas of the south coast. Responsible groups have come into action and through these turtle hatcheries ensure majority of the turtle hatchlings sees the light of day.

While appreciating the efforts taken for protection you can enjoy an up-close and personal experience with the turtles.

You have now reached the end of this round tour program and what remains is to transfer you to the selected beach resort in the south coast or to the airport for the departure back home.
