Considering your long journey we have allocated for you to rest and relax on the first day in order to adjust to the new surroundings, and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.
Later in the evening head out to witness an attractive cultural show, depicting the different styles of dance special to the different areas of the island. This program will also bring to you the startling act of the fire breathers, so hold on to your seats!
Wake up to a beautiful first morning in the island and enjoy your first breakfast here. Do not forget to try some of the local cuisine to taste the bold local flavors!
We then head for an experience like never before stepping in to a mysterious land. A site abound with legends and myths and more amazing features.
Ritigala, a name having two conflicting derivations of being known either as ‘safe’ or ‘dreaded’ mountain is one with roots running deep into history. As soon as you enter this revered site you too will feel the wondrous tranquility it holds that cannot be described in words.
With these perfect conditions the site held an ancient monastery for an order of reclusive and ascetic monks. The ruins of the complex make it clear how close and in harmony with nature they lived at the time.
The site also provided shelter for an heir to the throne who made the decisive battle at the foot of this mountain becoming the king and creating the capital of Anuradhapura.
Did you feel a change in the climate and see a difference in the vegetation as you reached higher on the mountain? According to the legend from the epic of the ‘Ramayana’ it is believed that as a part from the Himalaya mountain was being carried from above a chunk accidently fell on this place, thus explaining the distinctive micro climate contrasting with that of the surrounding dry zone and the difference in vegetation with many medicinal herb plants found in the area.
We head back completing a great feat and will then head for a more relaxed experience.
Here have your first experience with the locals as you head on a village experience tour. Commence with a bullock cart ride, a main used mode of transportation back in the day and then head to the lake for a boat ride to the village house. As you travel hear the songs of nature sung for you by the wind blowing through the lake.
Arriving at the village house you will be warmly welcomed and offered a local drink to refresh. Throughout the program with the assistance of your guide mingle with the folk and learn of their lifestyles, their livelihoods to better understand.
Then we use a more modern mode of transport, a ‘tuk-tuk’ to head back to the starting point.
Bidding farewell to the locals let’s head back to the hotel. Take a dip in the pool and refresh, and as night falls prepare for a relaxed overnight.
Arise early to spend another exciting day! Enjoy your breakfast and then we head out to visit the original inhabitants of this wonderful island.
Mahiyanganaya is known as the location where Lord Buddha first set foot during the initial visit to the island foreseeing Sri Lanka as to be the best place for the Buddhist doctrine to securely continue and develop for more than five thousand years.
This is where you will visit next! The temple of Mahiyangana.
In the evening travel towards Dambana in search of the Vedda community, the aboroginal group of Sri Lanka. And here we literally go the roots of history.
The Vedda community is one proud of it’s heritage and even with the threats on evolution for modernization they still hold strong to their ancient ways and do their utmost for their existance for the future. With a nickname given ‘those of the forest‘ they opt to be self sufficient living close to nature.
During your visit you will meet the chief of the community if present, whom you can converse with, with the assistance of your guide. Do not be afraid to ask questions and understand their way of life.
Then you will be offered a local drink to refresh and head out to see some of their activities. They will demonstrate to you on how they hunt, their honey collection and a traditional dance.
You will also be handed their own made bow and arrow to test. Are you up to shoot the arrow to a target?
Wake up to the serene sound of the birds chirping asking you to rise! The breakfast is laid out for you to enjoy and fill yourself up.
Then we tread in to a hidden part of the island in search for a roaring gem! The Ratna Ella waterfall.
A scenic trek takes you through the lush landscapes of the area, through rich paddy fields and the shady jungle patches, a close experience with nature. Then we head back and arrive at a small location where an authentic village lunch is prepared specially for you. Enjoy the lunch as you mingle with the simple local folk.
Successfully completing the activity transfer to Kandy and check-in to the hotel for the overnight stay.
Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast to start an exciting day! After we head for exhilarating adventure! The Kelani River, one of the main rivers nourishing the island offers the perfect rapids for a memorable white water rafting session!
The quiet town of Kitulgala is a hot spot for adventure seekers and white water rating is an activity not to be missed. Initially head for a briefing on rafting and of the safety measures taken to ensure your protection. Pay uninterrupted attention as this for your own benefit.
Then we board the raft and away we go to fight the unruly waters. Your raft will spear through the rapids as your guide navigate you in the best course. Enjoy each stride as you are forced to all directions on this bumpy ride.
Reaching towards the end though it consumed some of your energy you will be full of life after this adrenaline-charged experience!

Known as ‘Little England’ the town lives up to its nickname offering a picture of a British suburb village. You will see the little cottages on the hills, colonial hotels and the racecourse etc. which have been erected during the British rule which stands proud to this day.
As the evening gets cold head back to the hotel and enjoy the warmth of the hotel.

Ceylon Tea, a produce introduced to Sri Lanka by the British is now a refreshing drink enjoyed by every local ranging from a laborer to a millionaire! You will also have the opportunity to visit a tea plantation and a factory to enjoy your time and also learn about its production process.
Completing an active day head back to the hotel and as night fall tuck in and make yourself cozy to wind down and prepare for the overnight.
